As part of the National Curriculum your child will be going to the Quarry Swimming Baths for swimming lessons.  Each lesson will take place on a Tuesday afternoon for 5 weeks, starting 29^th April and ending Tuesday 3^rd June (inclusive).

Although the hire of the pool is taken in to account when setting the school budget, the cost of the transport is not. We are therefore asking for a voluntary contribution of £20.00  per pupil towards the cost of the coach hire.  Payment should be made via your child’s Arbor account, by 25^th April please. Thank you.

Please ensure your child brings their swimming costume (no bikinis please), goggles and towel in on the days they go swimming, as they will only be disappointed if they have to stay behind or sit and watch!

We politely request that children do not wear earrings to school on swim days and, if your child has long hair, they come to school with their hair tied up.  Many thanks for your cooperation.

As part of this term’s History curriculum work on the Ancient Egyptians, we have arranged for Year 3 to visit Liverpool’s World Museum on Tuesday 1^st April. Whilst there, each class will participate in an Ancient Egyptian workshop, learning all about the mummification process.

We will be leaving school at 8.15am in order to get there at a reasonable time so ask that children arrive at 8.00am that morning. We will return to school at approximately 5:45pm. If we encounter any significant delay on our return journey, we will do our best to keep you informed.

Your child will need to bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink for this trip – no glass bottles or fizzy drinks please. Those pupils entitled to free school meals will be given a packed lunch by our school meals provider before departure. Please also ensure that they wear school uniform and have a lightweight coat with them. We will not be visiting the souvenir shop so no additional spending money is required.

The cost of the trip is £16.40, which includes workshops and transport.  Payment for this trip should be made via your child’s Arbor account prior to the date of the trip.

As part of our religious education, we have arranged for Year 1, 3 and 5 pupils to take part in a Diwali Workshop at school on Monday 18^th November. The children will learn the origin and significance of India’s biggest and most important festival of the year, Diwali (also known as The Festival of Light), and how it is celebrated by Hindus. The workshop will include the children singing, dancing and dressing up in traditional Indian clothing.

As we have no other way of funding the workshop, we would be extremely grateful if parents could contribute £3.80 per child towards its cost. Payment is to be made via your child’s Arbor account prior to the date of the workshop please.

We are excited to share with you that, on Wednesday 9^th October, we will be welcoming Widget Workshops in to lead an exciting ‘Stone Age’ day with Year 3.  We would be grateful if parents can contribute £6.70 per child towards the cost of the workshop. Payment is to be made via your child’s Arbor account prior to the date of the workshop please.

During the day, children will take part in various activities to learn more about Stone Age life including time spent in our woodland area and using Virtual Reality headsets to experience famous Stone Age locations.  The children really loved this interactive element last year.  Please let us know if you do not want your child to take part in the VR headset experience.

As we will be spending part of the day in the woodland area, please send your child in woodland work clothes (PE kit) and ensure they have their waterproofs and wellies in school.

We are really looking forward to sharing this experience with the year group and will be sure to upload photos of the day on Dojo after the event!

As part of this term’s history curriculum work on The Stone Age,  we have arranged for Year 3 to visit Shrewsbury Museum on Monday 16^th September a “Stone Age Bone Age” workshop.  One class will visit the museum in the morning, setting off shortly after morning registration and returning in time for the school lunch break. The other class will leave after afternoon registration and return in time for normal end of day collection.

Pupils should wear school uniform and bring with them a lightweight coat/sunhat (depending on the weather forecast for that day). As they will be doing a fair amount of walking, they will also need to wear comfortable shoes or trainers. Spending money is not required for this trip.

The cost of the trip is £3.80, including the workshop. Payment should be made via your child’s Arbor account prior to the date of the trip please. We hope that everyone can contribute to the trip in some way.
