To complement this term’s history curriculum work we have arranged for Year 4 to visit the Deva Roman Discovery Centre in Chester. Whilst there, they will attend a workshop on the Romans, learning all about their way of life, and be given a tour of Chester city by a “real-life” Roman soldier.

The visit will take place on Tuesday 22^nd October, departing school at 8.30am and returning at 3.15pm, in time for normal collection. If we encounter any significant delay on our return journey, we will do our best to keep you informed.

The cost for this trip is £20.50, which includes the cost of the workshop/Roman tour, transport and insurance. Payment for this trip should be made via your child’s Arbor account prior to the date of the trip.

Your child will need to bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink for this trip. Those pupils entitled to free school meals will be given a packed lunch by our school meals provider before departure. Please also ensure that they wear school uniform and have a lightweight coat with them. We will not be visiting the souvenir shop so no additional spending money is required.

The closing date for secondary applications is 31 October 2024 which falls in the half-term holidays. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to submit an application as soon as possible but before the deadline date. We are excited to share with you that, on Wednesday 9^th October, we will be welcoming Widget Workshops in to lead an exciting ‘Stone Age’ day with Year 3.  We would be grateful if parents can contribute £6.70 per child towards the cost of the workshop. Payment is to be made via your child’s Arbor account prior to the date of the workshop please.

During the day, children will take part in various activities to learn more about Stone Age life including time spent in our woodland area and using Virtual Reality headsets to experience famous Stone Age locations.  The children really loved this interactive element last year.  Please let us know if you do not want your child to take part in the VR headset experience.

As we will be spending part of the day in the woodland area, please send your child in woodland work clothes (PE kit) and ensure they have their waterproofs and wellies in school.

We have arranged for Year 1 to visit Theatre Severn on Thursday 17^th October  to see an afternoon performance of “The Smartest Giant in Town”, based on the book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

They will be setting off around 12.15pm, following an early lunch, and will return to school around 3.00pm, in time for usual end of day collection.

The cost of the trip is £14.70, including transport costs and tickets.  Payment for this trip should be made via your child’s Arbor account prior to the date of the trip. We hope that everyone can contribute to the trip in some way.

As part of this term’s curriculum work on World War II, we have arranged for Year 6 to visit the Western Approaches HQ’s secret war tunnels in Liverpool on Wednesday 16^th October.   These secret tunnels were only re-discovered in recent years having been abandoned at the end of the war – a true time capsule for that significant time in our country’s history.

In order for us to arrive at the tunnels on time, we will be setting off from school earlier than usual. The coach will leave school at 8:00am prompt, so children need to arrive at school by 7.50am. We will leave Liverpool at 2:00pm, and expect to arrive back at school around 4.00pm. If we encounter any significant delay on our return journey, we will do our best to keep you informed.

Those pupils entitled to free school meals will be given a packed lunch by our school meals provider before departure. Please also ensure that they wear school uniform and have a lightweight coat with them.
