Open Classroom – An informal opportunity to meet your child’s class teacher and browse their new classroom.

Booka Bookshop has arranged a brilliant Author event for EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 taking place on Tuesday 1st October. 

Picture book author Donna David will be visiting us with her new book No Way, I’ll Stay!.

If you would like your child to have a signed book on the day of Donna’s visit, please purchase one via Booka Bookshops website.

Important! So Booka can compile a list a books to bring to school, when you get to checkout make sure you enter:

• your child’s name and surname in the ‘First Name’ box
• your child’s class and school in the ‘Last Name’ box
•  select ‘Collect in Oswestry’ so you don’t get charged for shipping.
• fill in your billing address and email address as normal

To complement this term’s history curriculum work we have arranged for Year 4 to visit the Deva Roman Discovery Centre in Chester. Whilst there, they will attend a workshop on the Romans, learning all about their way of life, and be given a tour of Chester city by a “real-life” Roman soldier.

The visit will take place on Tuesday 6^th October, departing school shortly after morning registration and returning around 3.50pm. If we encounter any significant delay on our return journey, we will do our best to keep you informed.

The cost for this trip is £21.30 which includes the cost of the workshop/Roman tour, transport and admin charges. Payment for this trip should be made via your child’s Arbor account prior to the date of the trip.

Your child will need to bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink for this trip. Those pupils entitled to free school meals will be given a packed lunch by our school meals provider before departure. Please also ensure that they wear school uniform, comfortable school shoes or trainers and have a lightweight waterproof coat with them. As we will not be visiting the souvenir shop, additional spending money is not required.

In case of an emergency or medical incident during the trip we ask that you check that your contact details are up-to-date on Arbor prior to the trip. Thank you for your assistance.

Exciting RE news! Years 1, 4 and 6 will each be taking part in an African Drumming workshop on Thursday 8^th October. This will be a fun way of linking their knowledge and developing an understanding about different global cultural practises and traditions. This is an important part of their overall RE learning journey. The workshop will also make a nice cross-curricular link to the Black History month which beings on 1st October.

To cover the cost of the workshop we are asking for a donation of £3.00 per child, to be paid via your child’s Arbor account. Many thanks.
