Ten Year 6 girls had an amazing day at the “This Girl Can” event held at Lilleshall National Sports Centre. The girls took part in a variety of taster sessions, including boccia, archery, Kwik cricket, squash, and boxing. The day was filled with energy and laughter as they enthusiastically engaged in all the activities.

One of the highlights was the boxing session, where the girls were full of excitement and finished red-faced but smiling. Throughout the day, they exemplified Coleham’s values, showing respect to the coaches, being kind to children from other schools, and working together as a supportive team.

Miss Lewis attended the Shropshire PE Conference at Shrewsbury Town Football Club to stay up to date with the latest developments in sport and physical education, and to further her professional development.

She had the privilege of meeting Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards, the famous Olympic ski jumper from the 1988 Winter Games. His inspiring story reminds us that with determination and perseverance, anything is possible. Eddie’s journey to becoming an Olympian began with a simple school skiing trip, organised by his PE teacher.

This highlights the importance of sport in schools, and we are dedicated to continuing to inspire our children to follow their dreams and never give up.

The first words from this group of children on their return back to school were, “We loved it, can we go again?” These girls attended a netball engagement event, where they participated in a netball skills workshop, learning the game and putting their practice into action during a few friendly matches. Well done girls for representing Coleham so well!

A big well done to the girls for a brilliant effort at the football fixture on the school field against Trinity. Although we lost 6-2, the girls showed fantastic determination, stayed positive, and enjoyed the game. In the second half, the team came back much stronger and put on a great performance. Well done, girls!

A massive well done to this group of children for their fantastic effort on Monday evening. The team showed great spirit and worked incredibly well together, demonstrating exceptional sportsmanship. After a series of impressive performances, we secured 5 wins and 1 draw, winning our group stage. We made it through to the semi-finals but sadly lost in our last match. Well done to everyone involved, you should be very proud of your achievements.

A huge well done to the boys for their great effort in our first sports fixture of the year! We faced Mereside at home and, although we lost 3-1, the team kept their heads high and played well together, especially in the second half. Despite the wet, muddy, and slippery conditions, everyone showed resilience and determination. Keep up the great work!

A big thank you to Harrison from Shrewsbury Lawn Tennis Club for visiting and giving our children the fantastic opportunity to participate in a tennis taster session! Each child has received a golden ticket, granting them the chance to attend the Tennis Club’s Open Day on Sunday, 6th October. We hope many of our pupils take advantage of this exciting experience!

Well done to this group of children for representing the school so well at the final sports fixture of the year. They played exceptionally well and demonstrated some fantastic rounders skills.

A special shoutout to James for saving some fantastic goals. Unfortunately, they were knocked out in the semi-finals by penalties, but their performance was truly commendable. Great job, everyone!
