Dolphin’s Trip to Rea Brook Valley Nature Reserve

As part of this term’s Science curriculum work on animals and their habitats, we have arranged for Year 4 to visit Rea Brook Valley Nature Reserve. Dolphins will visit on Tuesday 7^th July and Whales on Wednesday 8^th July. Whilst there, pupils will do some pond-dipping and take part in a workshop run by Shropshire Wildlife Trust staff.

Each class will leave school shortly after morning registration and return around 1.00pm. Pupils will need a packed lunch for this trip – no glass bottles or fizzy drinks please. Those pupils entitled to free school meals will be given a packed lunch – comprising a sandwich, a packet of crisps, a piece of shortbread/ flapjack and a piece of fruit – by our school meals provider before departure. If your child would prefer to bring a packed lunch from home, please let the teacher know so we can instruct the kitchen staff not to make a lunch for them.

The cost for this trip is £5.00 per child, including the 2 workshops. Payment should be made via your child’s Arbor account prior to the date of their trip please.

Children should wear their PE kit for this trip, and bring along a light waterproof coat for possible inclement weather and/or sunhat and sun cream if the weather proves necessary.  Wellington boots will be essential as we will be pond-dipping and going in the water. However, if your child doesn’t have a pair of wellingtons, they need to bring along a spare pair of footwear that you don’t mind them getting wet.  Everyone should bring spare trousers/leggings/shorts and socks in case the clothes they are wearing get wet.
