Headteacher End-Of-Year Message

Dear families,

Here we are again at the end of another school year, and I find myself reflecting on just what a special community Coleham Primary School is. Schools are, of course, about learning, but they are also about people. As I look back on this year, I am incredibly proud of the children, grateful to our families, and full of admiration for the remarkable staff who make our school such a wonderful place to be every day.

Firstly, I would like to thank our staff team. The care, commitment, patience and professionalism shown throughout the year have been exceptional. Whether teaching in classrooms; supporting children’s additional needs; preparing meals; keeping the school running smoothly behind the scenes; or helping children before and after school: every member of staff has made a difference. They give so much of themselves to ensure that children feel safe, valued and successful, and I am hugely grateful for everything they do.

I would also like to thank our parents and carers. The partnership between home and school is one of our greatest strengths. Your support, encouragement, trust and willingness to work alongside us make an enormous difference to the children’s experience. Whether helping with reading; attending events; supporting fundraising activities or simply reinforcing our values at home: your contribution is deeply appreciated.

Most importantly, I want to thank our children. They continue to impress me every single day. This year they have worked hard, shown determination when things have been challenging, demonstrated kindness towards one another and lived up to our expectations with pride. Their achievements, both inside and outside the classroom, have been a joy to celebrate.

There have been so many highlights across the year. Recent weeks alone have seen our Weather Balloon Mission successfully launched and completed, with Bernard returning safely to Earth; Year 4 enjoying pond dipping adventures at Reabrook Valley; pupils representing the school brilliantly at athletics events; our talented artists producing wonderful work through clubs and community projects; excellent assemblies for families; sports teams, school councillors, ambassadors and countless others making us proud. These moments remind us that education is about so much more than lessons – it is about experiences, opportunities and creating memories that will stay with children for years to come.

Finally, a special word for all of our leavers. Whether you are moving on to secondary school, another school, a new job or a well-earned retirement, we wish you every success and happiness for the future. To our wonderful Year 6 children: thank you for the part you have played in the life of our school and remember you will always have a place here. We are incredibly proud of you and cannot wait to see what you achieve next.

Have a safe, happy and restful summer break. Thank you for being part of such a special year at Coleham. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September.

EYFS Teddy Bears Picnic

Badgers and Foxes celebrated completing their first full year at school with a Teddy Bears Picnic.  Miss Melville and Miss Cox had organised a carousel of games and the children all enjoyed making the food and decorations for their picnic.

We are so proud of everything you have achieved this year!  Year 1 are so lucky to have you next year!

The School Year is over!

This evening, the staff came together to do something quite rare at this time of year – stop, breathe and relax for a moment. 💙

The final few days of the school year are always a whirlwind of parties and treats, awards, leavers and goodbyes, gift-giving and receiving, preparations for next year, and trying to catch up with everyone before the summer begins!

Amidst the joyful chaos, we celebrated the lovely Miss Featherston and her upcoming wedding with a staff performance featuring a selection of songs inspired by some of her favourite things. 💍🎤

It was also a chance to reflect on another wonderful school year filled with achievements, laughter, challenges overcome, and so much success. As one chapter closes and another awaits, we’re incredibly grateful for the amazing team that makes it all possible.

Here’s to happy memories, well-earned rest, exciting new beginnings, and a summer full of sunshine! ☀️

Wedding Party Celebrations

Year 6 have been full of excitement and curiosity about Miss Featherston’s upcoming wedding 💍, and when they asked if they could come along, Miss Featherston came up with the next best thing – a wedding party just for them! ❤️

The children designed Miss Featherston’s wedding dress, enjoyed some cake and lemonade, and danced at the wedding party as they shared the excitement of her big day.

It’s these little moments that make school life so special – building relationships, creating memories, and celebrating milestones together. Thank you, Miss Featherston, for making the children feel such a special part of your journey. 💐

Coleham Takeover Shrewsbury Parkrun- highest attendance in the UK!

To end the school year Mrs Stennett decided we should again takeover the Shrewsbury Junior Parkrun!  She brought a huge number of children (from our tallest to our tiniest), parents and staff with her! 289 youngsters finished the course, with 40 new runners and a heap of personal bests.

Many schools have already finished for the summer and, especially as lots of people will still be getting over England scoring 6 against France last night, Parkrun often see slightly smaller attendances at this time of year. But an incredible 289 of you crossed the finish line – 67 more than the next largest junior parkrun anywhere! The biggest in the UK! Well done Coleham!

EYFS Trip to Park Hall Farm

What a fantastic way to celebrate the end of the school year! 🦊🦡
The children in Foxes and Badgers class had a wonderful time on their end-of-year trip to Park Hall Farm. They thoroughly enjoyed meeting a variety of friendly animals, including sheep, alpacas, goats, bunnies and guinea pigs. There were lots of smiles as the children explored the farm and learned about the different animals.
The fun continued in the soft play area, where everyone had the chance to climb, crawl and play together. The children also loved exploring the role play village, using their imaginations in the different themed buildings, and had great fun bouncing on the bouncy castle.
One of the highlights of the day was watching the exciting pig race, which had everyone cheering and laughing!
The children were a real credit to the school, showing excellent behaviour, kindness and enthusiasm throughout the day. We are so proud of them and it truly was a fantastic way to celebrate what an incredible year we have had together.

Well done Foxes and Badgers!

Dolphins @ Splash Park

Miss Lewis treated the class to a morning at the Splash Park to end the school year!  The children were all amazing and everyone had so much fun!

Year 6 Leavers Jump In

The Year 6 Leavers had some well deserved fun together at Jump In, Air Hop.

After a year of incredible work ethic, determination and maturity it was time to let their hair down, enjoy each other’s company and cherish their Coleham friendships.

Adiós: a Spanish farewell 🇪🇸

At the weekend, TJ from Leopards class is leaving for a new life in Spain. He is a wonderful member of our school community and will be remembered for both his Rubik’s cube and moonwalking skills!

Today, year 5 (along with TJ’s parents) held a Spanish fiesta to celebrate his wonderful 6 years at Coleham.

Good luck, TJ!

Jolly Roger Music concert

The Jolly Roger Pirate Band welcomed family and friends on board deck ‘The Silver Pearl’ to sing popular sea shanties and dance a pirate jig!

They were accompanied by Pirate Pat on her accordian and Pirate Barker on her ukulele. Captain (Mrs) Wade who runs our popular KS1 music clubs said ‘Shiver my timbers – we are very proud of our junior pirates for singing so loudly and stamping their pirate boots – congratulations!’

KS1 Music Club returns on Friday 11th September with Robot Rhythm Rappers.

Plastic Free July

Miss Weatherhead and our Eco Champions created this display to promote Plastic Free July! Well done everyone, a great time to remind us about plastic pollution on our beaches and seas.  What can we do to help when we visit the beach this year?
