Headteacher Message

Dear Parents & Carers,

We’ve had a great week of sport this week – well done to Severn, Greyfriars and Darwin for lifting the cups for the EYFS/KS1, LKS2 and UKS2 Sports Days respectively!  A great competitive a fair spirit from everyone, complete with excellent performances.  There is still more competition to come with the Summer Term House Cup and the big one: the 2024-25 School House Cup for the ultimate winners at the end of the year…  It’s great each of the Houses have lifted the cup at some point this year, which I think is a first!

As well as the sports days, we welcomed our new EYFS children on Wednesday afternoon who all had a lovely time; Year 2 went to see their beaver friends; Miles raised £150 and Year 5 took delivery of a signed book!

There’s only 3 weeks left and still so much to come – next Monday, your children will spend the morning after assembly with their new teacher (except those moving to Lions Class.  They will meet Mr Hughes on Wednesday 9th July).

Have a super weekend everyone!

Tom Larkham

Author news 📚

Earlier this academic year, year 5 invited local author Jamie Russell in to read our own writing. He shared with us his own writing inspiration and his Skywake series of novels.

Today we received some very happy post from Jamie, who has given us a signed copy of his brand new book: Mech Brigade. Thank you, Jamie! We can’t wait to read it.

Pop up Lunchtime Nutrition event

Nutritionist Hannah from Catering Academy joined us this lunchtime for a mini pop up showing the children how important it is to eat lots of fruit and vegetables, even as a sweet treat for desert.

The children tried Carrot Cake flapjacks, Chocolate & Bananna flapjacks and Beetroot Chocolate cake.

French Drama Club – Robot play

On Tuesday 10th June, French Drama Club performed their three short plays to their parents after school. Madame Jones was not only proud of their wonderful performances and super French accents, but also she was incredibly impressed by their efforts on their costumes. What a lovely group of children in the club – well done all!

Here is our ‘Bobo le robot’ play:

Dental Hygiene Assembly

The school nurses visited us today and spoke to the whole school about dental hygiene and how we can look after our teeth and prevent acid erosion and tooth decay.  Tooth decay is currently the most prevalent chronic disease in children so its vital we spend time talking about this.  Thanks to our Teaching Assistant Miss Wisdom for organising free toothbrushes and toothpaste which have been handed out to every child to bring home.

BVAF Movement Winners

These children are winners of the Belle Vue Arts Festival Movement competition that took place on the Saturday Lets Celebrate event at Greyfriars Bridge.  The children spotted 10 verbs from this year’s festival Poster and have won a £5 Gelatistry voucher.  The children wondered where Miss Othen was taking them but were very excited when she told them the news.
