Headteacher Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Here we are again at the end of another half-term – the final 7 weeks of this academic year await us on the other side… This final week has been filled with exciting trips, great sporting achievements and music performances.

One of the highlights was the Year 1 ukulele concert. It’s always one of my favourite events and I want to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Porrett for her dedication and hard work in preparing the children for this event. It was a delight to see the students perform with such confidence and joy.

At the time of writing, we are eagerly anticipating our song of Belonging performance, which will be shared with all the families at home-time. Although it hasn’t happened yet, I am sure it will be brilliant!

We also want to extend a warm good luck to our Deputy Head, Miss Turner, who is leaving us for a new adventure in Telford, where she will be building her new school. We are incredibly grateful for her contributions and wish her all the best in her exciting new journey.

As we head into the holiday, I hope you all have a chance to relax and enjoy some quality time with your loved ones. Whether you’re planning a fun trip or simply enjoying some downtime at home, I wish you a lovely holiday.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Your engagement and encouragement make a significant difference in the lives of our students. We look forward to welcoming everyone back after the break, ready for more learning and adventures.

Have a wonderful holiday!

Year 4 step back in time to the Tudor era!

Year 4 had a fantastic day immersing themselves in history during their visit to the Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery. The trip was packed with exciting hands-on learning and memorable experiences that brought their Tudor topic to life.

As part of a special workshop, the children had the opportunity to dress up as rich and poor Tudors, have a go at using a quill to create Tudor-style writing, explore real artefacts, construct their own model Tudor houses, and even make traditional pomanders using herbs and spices—just like the Tudors did to keep unpleasant smells away!

The children also enjoyed a guided tour around the beautiful town of Shrewsbury, where they spotted key features of Tudor architecture and learned fascinating facts about the period.

Year 5’s Viking Day 🛡️

Year 5 embraced Viking Day with incredible spirit and enthusiasm! They made shields and jewellery in the morning and declared their fantastic battle cries and played Kubb (Viking chess) in the afternoon. It was a day to remember!

Belle Vue Arts Festival

We look forward to producing art for the Belle Vue Arts Festival each year!

Thank you to Mike and Chris from the BVAF for hosting a workshop with Yr 5 to create a ‘Murmuration of Starlings’. We are looking forward to seeing them in flight at the Barnabas Art Exhibition.

Yr 6 Bikeability

Well done to the pupils in Year 6 who took part in Bikeability this week! The children achieved their level 2 award and have learnt lots about keeping safe when cycling on the road. The instructors were really pleased with their effort and enthusiasm.

Year One Ukulele Concert

Year One loved singing and playing for their grown ups this morning in our ukulele concert to show case the new musical skills they have learned with Mrs Porrett this term.

Coleham wins Cricket tournament

A group of Coleham pupils represented the school at the Embrace Cricket Competition and came away as champions after an exciting day of matches. After a dramatic win in the first game and a narrow loss to St Giles in the second, the team bounced back to win their final group match, setting up a rematch against St Giles in the final.

Coleham fielded first and held their opponents to 71 runs. A strong batting performance saw them needing 10 runs from the last 10 balls, and with just two deliveries remaining, they secured victory by a single run.

The team demonstrated excellent teamwork, sportsmanship, and resilience throughout the tournament, showing true Coleham spirit. A fantastic achievement — well done to all involved!

Coleham Belonging Song

The 3-18 Education Trust launch the Belonging framework this week and so we’ve all been thinking about what Belonging means to us. Belonging is fundamentally important to us at Coleham School and within our extended community.

On the last day of this half term, here is the whole school singing about belonging.
