Headteacher Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a busy and brilliant week it’s been! Our Year 2 children had a fantastic trip to Wood Lane, where they explored how recycling works and why small everyday choices (like sorting our rubbish) to make a big difference to the planet. The Shropshire Wildlife Trust staff at the centre were impressed by the children’s curiosity and thoughtful questions, and the class returned full of excitement!

Meanwhile, Year 4 welcomed a team from Severn Trent Water, who led an engaging workshop on water conservation and keeping our sewers healthy. From learning where our water comes from to understanding what not to flush, pupils came away with practical tips they can use at home and in school.

A huge well done to our U10 girls’ football squad, who showed exemplary sporting attitudes in their fixtures this week. Their teamwork, resilience, and encouragement of one another were outstanding: true role models for peers across the school. We’re proud of every player who pulled on the shirt and gave their best.

We also enjoyed a visit from The Animal Family, who introduced us to a range of exotic animals in a wonderful educational session. Pupils were captivated as they learned about habitats, adaptations, responsible care and even faced up to some fears.

As always, thank you for your continuing support, whether that’s helping with reading at home, volunteering on trips, cheering from the touchline, or simply ensuring pupils arrive ready to learn each day. Our partnership with families is what makes our community so special.

Wishing you all a restful, happy weekend. We look forward to welcoming the children back on Monday, refreshed and ready for another week of learning and discovery.

Warm regards,

Tom Larkham

An Out of This World Trip for Year 5

Last week, year 5 went to Leicester Space Centre to supplement their Space Race learning.
Whilst there they experienced a trip around the solar system in the planetarium and learnt all about the history of space travel. They saw a piece of the moon, a scale model of the lunar module and even a real life rocket!

Year 2 trip to Wood Lane

We had such an amazing trip to Wood Lane and learnt all about Charles Darwin and his theories. We also learnt all about the quarry that is there and got a chance to explore the recycling centre. Well done Year Two!

Saving Water with Severn Trent

Year 4 were visited by Severn Trent’s education team to learn about how our water is pumped to our homes and schools and how water is treated and cleaned. We did a workshop measuring how different ‘families on Water Street’ waste and save water and learnt what we can do to help save water too. We also know it’s important to hold companies who pollute our rivers with sewage accountable and we know our responsibility to stand up to protect our water, particularly in the River Severn.

U10 Girls’ Football Tournament

We took a group of children to an U10 girls’ football tournament. The team played fantastically, winning one game and narrowly losing the other two 1–0. Both defeats were against very strong teams who dominated their groups and went on to reach the final.

Our team showed excellent grit and determination, defending brilliantly throughout. They held their heads high and were rightly proud of their performance. Well done to all the team.

The Animal Family

An after school treat for EYFS and Year 1 as we met The Animal Family and a host of exotic creatures! Literally snakes every where by the end! Petting exotic creatures, facing fears and seeing teachers wrapped up in snakes. We all had a great time!

EYFS Litter Picking

This week, our Reception children went out into the local area to take part in a litter-picking activity. This was a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn about caring for their environment, working together, and taking pride in their community.

The children received many positive comments and ‘thank yous’ from members of our community! We were all so proud of the commitment and care the children showed towards our local community. Well done Foxes and Badgers! 🌍
