Headteacher Message

Dear families,

This has been a week of weeks!  Spring is definitely here for a week so full I’m not sure how we have managed to fit it all in…

It has largely been full of incredible performances starting with Miss Cox and her Dance Troupe at Theatre Severn and the FANTASTIC School Production: starting with Saturday’s all day rehearsal, then performances to the children on Tuesday, followed by two epic nights.  An what a show it was!  The biggest show in the history of Coleham did not disappoint (92 children involved!) and both audiences were treated to over 2 hours of incredible talent, confidence and sheer joy on the stage.  A HUGE well done to every single one of our wonderful young actors, especially those with the confidence (and talent!) to sing solos in front of everyone.

An incredible team of staff, led by the inimitable Mrs Stennett, have worked so incredibly hard: Miss Heap, Mrs Morgan, Mrs Porrett, Mrs Rank, Mr Williams, Miss Featherston and many more who supported backstage or manned the refreshments – so many people played their part in what has been a true community event.

We’ve also had great success in football, with the U10 boys progressing to U10 County Shield Final – what an amazing show of sporting talent and teamwork.  Well done, boys!

PARENT SURVEY: Please don’t forget to complete our annual parent survey before it closes on Friday 27th March.

You can complete the short survey HERE

After several late nights, I think we’re all ready for some sleep.

Enjoy the weekend and the lovely weather!

Plant & Craft Fair Coming Soon

Our annual Plant & Craft Fair is coming up on Saturday 9th May 10:00 – 12:00

SAVE THE DATE

This is in collaboration with Belle Vue Arts Festival and the theme for 2026 is FANTASY

HOW CHILDREN CAN GET INVOLVED?

Craft Stalls –We will be inviting children to run their own craft stall to help us fundraise for school.  They can sign up their name with Miss Othen and get planning at home with their parents.  Parents can help support children making their crafts at home and supervising on the day.

School Production Cast -We would love for the School Production cast to don their costumes and help us greet our new reception school starters for next year, sing some songs or help with our obstacle course for the younger children.

Fantasy Competition Exhibits at the Fair– These will be announced next term for children to enter.

Gardeners– Can you or your grandparents help us grow plants to sell?  We will gladly accept any and all plant donations from families.

Pom‑Pom Penguins Take Flight for Comic Relief

A flock of handmade pom‑pom penguins has waddled into the world, thanks to the creativity and kindness of Josie and Flora in Year 4. Each penguin was crafted and offered up for adoption, with every donation supporting Comic Relief.

Their limited-edition creations disappeared quickly for extra orders being taken.

A huge well done to Josie and Flora for turning craft into compassion and raising lots of money for charity.

Tales Untold Programme

KS2 children designed artworkfor our School Production Tales Untold.  Congratulations to Evie aka Maleficent whose design was chosen for the Programme cover and is now proudly displayed in School.

U10 footballers have done it again!

A huge well done to these talented players for yet another victory, securing their place in the U10 County Shield finals after beating St Peters 3 – 0 in the semi-final at home. Fantastic football on display, along with brilliant teamwork and sportsmanship.

Well done, boys, we are very proud of you!

Author Visit-Catherine Wilkins

Our KS2 pupils met comedian and author Catherine Wilkins, who joined us to chat about her children’s book series Café Chaos. The story follows Hope Crumble and her dysfunctional family as they run the delightfully chaotic Café Crumble together.

Catherine shared fantastic insights into her writing process — from writing what you know (she worked in cafés and hospitality) to using character conflict to spark a great story, and weaving in plenty of humour.

Her books have an anti‑bullying message and she reminded pupils that bullying can always be solved by speaking to trusted adults and never facing problems alone.

Our children asked some great questions and we were added some signed copies to our book shelves.

Dance Troupe Shine at Theatre Severn! 🌟

What an unforgettable evening for Miss Cox and her Dance Troupe, who took to the stage at Theatre Severn as part of the SSPA Events Dance Show, joining local dance academies.

Our dancers performed two fantastic routines that lit up the stage:

🎓 A School-Themed Medley Mash-Up
A high-energy performance full of character—complete with chairs, revolting children and and buckets of personality.

💛 A Cheeky Minions Comic Routine
Bringing mischief, humour, and charm to the audience with their playful Minion-inspired number.

We feel incredibly fortunate to have the talented Miss Cox leading these young dancers and are very proud of them all.

Veg Power at lunch time

We are taking part in BBC national campaign ‘Eat them to Defeat them’ to boost ‘veg power’ in pupil’s diets and encourage children to enjoy vegetables.

Your child will come home with a campaign sticker pack and reward chart so you can encourage your child to try new vegetables at home and we’ll be promoting different vegetables over the next few weeks at lunchtimes to try on our tasting table. Thank you to our Catering Team for arranging this.  Check out website for more info, healthy eating tips and prizes to win.

🌟School Production 2026: Tales Untold 2026

This year’s production has been nothing short of extraordinary. Tales Untold –an original script written by the brilliant Mrs Stennett—brought together a whirlwind of fairy‑tale favourites and legendary villains in a way we’ve never seen before. Princesses, Queens, Fairy godmothers, pirates, Darth Vader, and even Voldemort all shared the stage in a magical mash‑up that could only happen at Coleham.

Mrs Stennett created an original show because our school is overflowing with talent, and she wanted many, many main characters giving lots of children the chance to shine.  She didn’t leave anyone behind from auditions and with a cast and crew of over 90 pupils, this was our largest production to date—and without doubt, our favourite.   Creativity brings inclusivity💛

Most importantly Performing Arts is live and well at Coleham-singing, dancing, acting, public speaking, teamwork and confidence will help our children succeed in life and bring joy to themselves and others.

At its heart, Tales Untold carried a message we hope stays with our pupils long after the final bow: Be kind. Be a good friend. And most of all – write your own story in life.

💛 A Huge Thank You

Productions like this happen because of passion, teamwork, and a community that shows up for one another.  The buzz in school has been heart warming, all our pupils watched the dress rehearsal, the corridors have been the back stage this week with props & costumes taking over and characters coming and going.  But most of all the whole school staff lending a hand, supporting the team and lifting each other up.

To our incredible staff:

  • Mrs Rank – Prompting with patience and precision
  • Miss Featherston & Mrs Porrett – Music & singing tuition that lifted every scene
  • Mr Williams – Tech wizardry
  • Miss Heap – Costumes and set design that transformed our hall into another world
  • Mrs Morgan – Choreography full of energy
  • Miss Nash – Make Up

And to every other member of staff and every parent who helped backstage, served refreshments, managed crowds, and supported our pupils to make everything run smoothly.

🌟 And the BIGGEST Thank You…

To Mrs Stennett — the heart, engine, and imagination behind it all. Producing and directing a cast and crew of over 100 people on top of the day job is no small feat, yet she led every rehearsal with a smile, calm confidence, and what seemed like effortless grace. Her creativity, dedication, and belief in our pupils made Tales Untold 2026 possible.
