Headteacher Message

Welcome to another Friday!
The weeks are already starting to fly by, and week 3 has been another successful one where we have seen all the children get properly stuck into the term proper.
Thank you to everyone who braved the rain for the September Social last week – lots of money was raised and everyone had a great time! Huge thanks goes out to all the wonderful children who helped run stalls and set up, and to all the brilliant staff who gave up their time to set up, organise (and tidy up!). Miss Othen needs a special mention, too, for being the mastermind behind our community events – give her a high 5 when you see her!
The school community is getting into shape now, with new House Captains, School Councillors and Eco-Councillors across the school – well done to all the children who had put themselves forward and congratulations to the duly elected members of the Councils! They already have some exciting projects to get stuck into.
Have a super weekend everyone!

IMPORTANT NOTICE: building work and start of the day changes
Next week, there will be a slight change to the morning routine. We are beginning some building work on a covered outdoor area for our Year 1 classrooms to improve our Year 1 provision, and this will cause some disruption for next week as follow:
- There will be NO DAILY DASH next week
- The corner gate will NOT be used next week; just the main gate and the field gate.
- The main gate and the field gate will open at 8:40 am
- The road will close and open at the usual times
- There will be NO ACCESS to the playground by the Year 1 classrooms. Year 1 and 2 families will need to access the KS1 playground by walking around from the KS2 playground.
- Next week at drop off Year 1 children will line up with their Teachers by the Sail Shade Canopy on KS1 Playground and also be collected there at the end of the day.

We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause in the short-term, but it is necessary to further improve our provision for Year 1.
Please pass this information on to anyone collecting your children that don’t receive updates directly from us.
Monday – Small donations welcome
Next week we will be welcoming John the Sign Guy into our Assembly! 🚲✨
A retired cyclist with a huge heart, John spends his time traveling across the county, cleaning road signs, scrubbing off graffiti, and keeping our community looking bright and safe. 💛
To support John’s work, we’re inviting children to bring along a little spare change for John’s Cleaning Fund – every penny goes directly to help him keep our town shining! Our School Councillors will be collecting this spare change in their classroom on Monday morning.
Let’s show John how much we appreciate him and give him the warmest Assembly welcome! 🙌❤️
Help yourself to uniform
Please help us to recycle school uniform! We have lots of school jumpers and school shoes on our Drop and Swap Trolley in the Reception Foyer. The trolley is full so please drop in and help yourself!! We would much prefer to see it worn than sitting there waiting for a new home.

Careers’ Week – WE NEED YOUR HELP!
🌟 Calling All Parents & Guardians – Inspire Our Students! 🌟
We’re inviting you to be part of something special at school! As part of our ongoing efforts to help children explore future career paths, we’d love for parents and carers to volunteer to come in and talk to the children about your job or career.
Whether you’re a nurse, builder, artist, engineer, chef, entrepreneur, or anything in between — your story matters! Sharing your experience can spark curiosity, broaden horizons, and help our students understand the exciting possibilities that lie ahead.
🕒 What’s involved?
Just a short talk — up to 30 minutes — during the school day. You don’t need to prepare anything fancy: just come ready to chat about what you do, how you got there, and what you enjoy about your work. Props can be handy, and if your job involves animals or vehicles, then bring those along too!
🎯 Why it matters:
Hearing directly from real people about real jobs helps children connect learning to life and to start thinking about their own futures.
If you’re interested, please complete the attached link by Friday 10th October. We will then contact you and organise times and classes.

Hungry Guy helps with healthy snacks
🌟 A special guest joined us at After School Club this week! 🌟
We were so excited to welcome Chef Steve aka The Hungry Guy. He spent the afternoon with our pupils, showing them how to prepare their very own tasty snacks. The children rolled up their sleeves, got stuck in, and loved learning some new skills (as well as tasting their colourful and healthy buffet 😋). A big thank you to Steve for sharing his time, talent, and passion for food with us! 🧑🍳✨
New school councillors
In PSHE the children learnt about democracy in Britain which was the ideal opportunity to elect our new School Councillors. Well done to all the children throughout school who gave speeches to their class mates.

Meet our new School Councillors

The newly elected school council have just had their first meeting and received their shiny, new badges of office!
All this week, their first task is to collect loose change from class mates to support John “The Sign Guy” buying cleaning supplies to help him in his task of keeping the local area clean and graffiti free. He will be visiting school next Monday for assembly.
The September Social
Thank you to everyone for turning out for us! In sunshine and showers! This is what our school community is all about! It was lovely to have @ Shropshiresupportsukraine with us and their delicious buffet which was a sell out, Pengwern Rowing Club and Belle Vukes live music. Mr Larkham’s band Manic Street Teachers also had a reunion gig. Thank you for all the lovely donations and support!
If you ever have any ideas for events then please get in touch with us 😀
Charity Fundraising
Well done to Hermione, Robyn and Hugo in Whales Class who worked hard to raise money for Shropshire Wildlife Trust! 🦉🦊
Their animal origami handcraft stall raised £40 at the September Social.
🐢🦋 Every fold, every flap, and every smile has helped support local wildlife and protect the beautiful nature we all love here in Shropshire. 💚
Thank you for showing how little actions can make a big difference! 🌱👏
