Headteacher Message
Dear Parents & Carers,
We’ve had a brilliant week at school and I just wanted to say a big thank you to you all: parents, carers, and of course, the children, for making it such a positive one.
A huge shout-out to our EYFS pupils who’ve completed their first full week – assemblies and all! They’ve taken it all in their stride and brought so much energy and joy to the school. They can all be really proud of how they’ve settled in.
Also, a special thank you to the children in Hedgehogs class. After a big leak meant they had to move out of their classroom, they showed amazing patience and resilience. Not easy, but they handled it like pros and they really enjoyed access to the decking and conservation area. Soon Year 1 will be having their own outside area with a new canopy being installed in a few weeks time!
We’re also celebrating our catering team, who’ve won a well-earned award this week. They work incredibly hard every day to prepare hundreds of meals and always do it with a smile. We’re lucky to have them!
And finally… we can’t wait to see you all tomorrow at the September Social, which is the hottest ticket in town! It’s going to be a fantastic event, full of fun and community spirit. Whether you’re coming for the games, the music, or just a good catch-up, it’s going to be a great way to end the week.
Thanks again for all your support. The term is properly underway now, and we’re excited for everything that’s still to come.
See you tomorrow!
Tom Larkham

RSHE Information evening
Dear Parent Carers,
We warmly invite you to an informal RSHE (Relationships, Sex and Health Education) Information Evening at school on Tuesday 14th October from 3:20-4:00pm in Year 2 (Owls class). This will be a relaxed and friendly opportunity to explore the RSHE curriculum together; understand what your child will be learning; and see how we deliver this vitally important subject across the school.
There’s absolutely nothing to worry about – the evening is simply a chance for you to:
- Learn more about the RSHE curriculum
- View the age-appropriate content we’ll be teaching
- Ask questions in a safe, respectful space
- Share your thoughts and feedback
Please see the RSHE Policy below
RSHE Policy
If you would like to feedback on this policy or offer any views for consideration, then please complete the parent survey below.
You can complete the parent survey HERE
RSHE has links to Science, E-safety and PSHE (Personal, Social, Health & Economic Education) subjects. If you would like to see an overview of what is taught in each age group, please see our PSHE page for progression documents.
We are committed to delivering RSHE in a way that is sensitive, inclusive, and tailored to meet the needs of all our children. Your input and understanding is incredibly valuable as we work together to support our pupils’ wellbeing and development.
We hope you can join us!
Warm regards,

Ancient Greek Workshop with SM&AG
A huge thank you as always to the wonderful Ali at Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery for helping introduce out first history topic of the year – the Ancient Greeks – with an immersive in school workshop.
We looked at different artefacts, learnt all about the origins of the Olympic Games, and decided which of the city states we’d have preferred to have lived in.
We spent the rest of our day researching what Greek hoplites from the different city states would have looked like and what they would have worn, recreating them as huge pieces of artwork.
Year 6 House Captain Elections
Well done to all of the year 6 children who put themselves forward for house captain this afternoon.
Your speeches were amazing and it was a very close competition.
Huge congratulations to our new house captains.

Belle Vue Arts Festival sponsor our artists!
Two of our year 6 pupils were excited to attend their first session at Bloom Art school this week! Their place on the ‘Big Bloomers’ course has been kindly paid for with funds raised at Belle Vue Arts Festival earlier this year. How wonderful to sponsor art in the community and inspire our young people to develop their artistic talents! Enormous thanks to Belle Vue Arts Festival and to Kerry and Liz at our wonderful neighbours Bloom Art and congratulations to our year 6 artists Eleanor and Hugh.
Drama Club R&D Outing to the Flaxmill
Drama Club are embarking on a new performance project this year, inspired by the lives of the workers of Shrewsbury Flaxmill. Today, we walked to the Flaxmill to complete some ‘research and development’! We met with Lisa, the community engagement officer, who helped us learn lots about the building’s history and function, as well as the conditions of the adults and children employed there. We had a good look around the museum to get inspired and generate lots of performance ideas, as well as exploring the Dye House, which will be our performance space at the end of the year! We can’t wait to begin our exciting, creative journey!
