Headteacher Message
Dear parents and carers,
The weeks are flying by and this week has been the best so far!
Huge congratulations to our football teams in action this week! I was lucky enough to spend some time cheering on the boys against Greenfields this week. I was really impressed with the mature performance and excellent teamwork. Greenfields were excellent and I can see the old derby with them coming back this year!
It was a pleasure to celebrate our very own Mrs Morgan and Mrs Butler this week as they celebrate 30 years each of long and brilliant service to our community. Well done!
This week has also seen my office full of children desperate to share their excellent work – I’ve seen maths, geography, science but the best has been the excellent writing I have seen – so much talent on show!
Thank you all for your continued support – have a lovely weekend!

Year 5 write Tales with a Twist
For their first writing project of the year, year 5 have been writing traditional tales with a twist, with the aim of sharing these with their year 2 reading buddies.
From Three Little Unicorns instead of Three Little Pigs, and the Cactus Seed Man instead of the Gingerbread Man, their stories are amazing. Year 2 could recognise what had inspired the stories they listened to and gave some really lovely feedback.
Well done, Lions and Leopards!
Stone Age shelters
In woodland work we experimented creating shelters in Stone Age style. We used materials from nature to create our shelters. Our aim was to make them as stable as possible. We had some useful group discussions and planning while we made our shelters. We hope that you will love them too.
The Secret Bookcase
The Secret Bookcase has been re launched!Β Each week a child from Lions, Leopards, Giraffes and Elephants will be selected to choose a book signed by the author and bookmark.Β The Secret Bookcase has a fab selection of books and new releases!Β Its better than any bookshop!
Year 4 Adopt Capybaras at Telford Zoo
After writing persuasive adverts in English to encourage others to adopt an animal, Year 4 convinced themselves! They decided to make and sell cakes and origami animals to raise money to buy capybara adoption packs at Telford Zoo and go to visit their new sponsors in person!
We had a brilliant time looking at all the animals in the zoo and taking part in a workshop, learning about why it’s important to adopt animals at home and at zoos, as well as gaining knowledge about classification, ready for our future Science topic. We met a bird (a chicken), an amphibian (a tree frog), a mammal (an armadillo), a reptile (a tortoise) and an invertebrate (a millipede)…as a fish would have been too tricky to hold!!

Author Lisa Thompson visits Yr 5/6
β¨ Another bookish day for our Reading School! β¨
We were thrilled to welcome childrenβs author Lisa Thompson into school to talk about her brand-new mystery Skeleton Puzzle. Our Year 5 and 6 pupils were completely hooked by the puzzles and riddles Lisa shared β and even created some brilliant ones of their own! π§©π
It was wonderful to see so many excited faces at the book signing in the library afterwards. A huge thank you to Carrie and Sian at Booka Bookshop for organising such a fantastic visit and giving our pupils a memory to treasure. ππ

Year 3 Stone Age Museum Trip
Year 3 enjoyed a fun-filled visit to Shrewsbury Museum where they stepped back in time to explore life in the Stone Age! The children got hands on with a range of activities like making tools, creating cave art and grinding wheat just like early farmers. They explored the museum and became archaeologists, studying artefacts to deepen their historical knowledge. What a fun way to become Stone Age experts!Β
Year 3 Fire Service Visit π₯π
We love our annual visit from the Fire Service to teach our year 3 children about fire safety! Despite our visit being cut short due to a real-life emergency, we still had time to learn lots of important safety tips and even got to explore the fire engine and use the hose ππ§―π¨βπ
A big thank you to White Watch Crew for such an engaging and important session. π
Celebrating Mrs Morgan & Mrs Butler β¨
β¨ A Huge Congratulations β¨
This week we celebrate two incredible members of our Coleham family β Mrs Morgan and Mrs Butler β who have each dedicated 30 years to our school! π
Mrs Morgan hadn’t even realised she had met this impressive milestone; it’s flown by so quickly!
Back in 1995 (in the same year as the internet arrived, Radiohead’s The Bends, Blackburn winning the Premier League and Robbie leaving Take That), both joined Coleham School on the very same day, fresh from university and ready to begin their teaching journey.Β Since then, they have taught and inspired over 900 children each, shaping lives with their passion, kindness, and commitment to learning.
Their impact is felt every single day β in the classrooms, the corridors and in the countless memories held by generations of pupils, staff and families.
Hereβs to Mrs Morgan and Mrs Butler β 30 years of making a difference and more years to come πππ

Squirrels and Hedgehogs Family Lunch
This week the children in Year One were joined by their grown-ups for a school dinner. The dining hall was filled with chatter and smiles as the children proudly showed their adults where they eat lunch every day. Thank you to all the parents and careers who were able to come along- itβs lovely to build these bridges between school and home.
Year One Quarry Fun
Our year one children had a fantastic time walking to the Quarry park today. Spirits were high as the children played parachute games, explored and enjoyed a tasty biscuit snack. Β This wasnβt just for fun though- the trip will be used as inspiration for their English, where they will be writing postcards all about their local adventure.

π₯β¨ Feel the Beat of West Africa! β¨π₯
Years 1, 4 and 6 experienced the vibrant rhythms of West Africa through our African Drumming workshop. The energy was electric as our expert drummer filled the hall with powerful beats.
They learnt about the history of African drumming and different ways to play a djembe drum. With enough djembes for every childΒ they immersed themselves in rhythm, teamwork, and the joy of making music together. ππΆ Some children had the chance to be conductors to their class. A great time was had by all π
A great way to celebrate culture through the universal language of music!
First Sporting Fixture of the Year!
We have had our first sports fixture of this academic year! A football team made up of U11 boys took on Greenfields here at school. The match was full of energy, skill, and determination, with every player giving their all from start to finish. Although the final score was 3-0 to Greenfields, the boys played brilliantly together, showed great teamwork, and represented the school with pride. Their positive attitude and high spirits throughout the game were a real credit to them β a fantastic way to begin our sporting calendar!

Year 4 Footballers Shine at Tournament
We took a mixed group of Year 4 children to a football tournament at Wilfred Owen Primary School, and what a fantastic afternoon it was! The team played brilliantly, showing great teamwork, determination, and resilience throughout their matches, and they were rewarded with an impressive 3rd place finish. Beyond the results, it was wonderful to see the children smiling, laughing, and supporting each other at every stage. They were also extremely respectful to the other schools and adults at the tournament, perfectly showcasing the Coleham values both on and off the pitch. A huge well done and thank you to all who took part β you made us very proud!

New Canopy for Year 1
π Exciting News for Year 1! π
Weβre thrilled to share that the brand-new outdoor canopy has been installed, extending our Year 1 classroom provision. This wonderful addition means our children can enjoy learning and exploring outdoors in all weathers β making the most of every opportunity to grow, discover, and thrive.
This improvement is another step forward in enhancing our school environment and creating more space where children can flourish. πΏβ¨
