Dear Parent/Guardian,
Welcome to Coleham Primary School. We are delighted to confirm that your child has a place to join us in September and we want to welcome you to our school community. Coleham is a very special place and building strong relationships with children and families is at the very heart of what we do.
Contact Information Confirmation
We plan to email our school Registration Form and Induction Questionnaire to you on Monday 28th April to complete and return electronically. We will be using the email address provided by you on the form submitted to Shropshire Council’s Admissions Team when applying for the school place. If your email address has changed, please let us know as soon as possible – by emailing induction@col.318education.co.uk and providing your new details – so that we can update our records. We would like the completed Registration Form and Induction Questionnaire to be returned to us by Friday 9th May please. If you require paper copies to be posted, then please contact us by email or telephone so we can arrange this.

Community Plant & Craft Fair
Our school sits at the heart of our community and community events are very important to us. On Saturday 10th May 10:00am-12:00 noon we will be holding our annual Plant & Craft Fair in the school hall and grounds. This event is part of the Belle Vue Arts Festival and this year’s theme is ‘Movement’. The fair will feature children’s competitions, refreshments, plant sales and activities for children. We would like to invite all of our new families to join us if you are free on this day. You can experience our Coleham community, meet the Early Years staff and your child can visit the school in a fun and relaxed setting as their first introduction to school.
Parents Information Evening
We would like to invite you to our Parents Information Evening on Wednesday 14th May at 5:30pm. This will be held in the school hall and will include a presentation from members of our Early Years Team and myself. You may already have children at the school but we would urge you to still attend if possible. Please enter school via the main front entrance gate.
Family Open Classrooms Event
This event allows us to meet your child and for families and children to explore the outdoor grounds and EYFS classrooms in a relaxed setting with their parents. It will follow a treasure hunt format so you can wander the various play areas, visit the dining hall and sample some tasters and, most importantly, join us to play and explore our resources in the classrooms and classroom gardens. Please enter school via the main front gate where you will be greeted by staff.
Induction sessions
Our induction sessions allow your child to attend school for a short session in their classroom setting. The first session your child attends will be for 15 pupils only, allowing us to get to know your child in a smaller group. The second session will then be for all 30 pupils, allowing them to get to meet all of their peers. We will therefore contact you nearer the time to inform you which session (Group 1 or Group 2) we would like your child to attend. Please note that uniform IS NOT required until your child officially starts school in September.
Half Days
The new school year will start on Tuesday 2nd September for all pupils and the first 4 days will be half days to settle your child into their new routine. This half day session will begin at 8:40am and finish at 1:15pm (after lunch).
Pre-school Information
Getting to know your child even before they start school is really important to us, so we will soon be seeking information from your child’s current nursery/preschool/childcare provider so that we have gathered as much information as possible about your child in order to make September a real success. We will also invite providers to a nursery cluster meeting to find out more about your child.
If, for any reason you do not wish to take up this school place, then please contact us and Shropshire Council’s School Admissions Team (school-admissions@shropshire.gov.uk) to let us know.
Naturally, starting school is a very exciting time but it can also be an anxious time for parents and children. Please be assured that we will do everything we can to help you become familiar with Coleham and ensure a smooth transition and the best possible start to school for your child.
We are very much looking forward to getting to know you all and will look forward to meeting you and your children soon.
Yours sincerely
Tom Larkham
