Headteacher Message

Dear Families,

Almost inevitably, it’s Friday and we are at the end of another half-term!  Half way through the year exactly – and it has flown by.

This week has been a really good one!  I was so impressed with the Year 6 Maths Challenge yesterday, where we had teams from Coleham and 3 other 3-18 Trust primaries (St Martin’s, Much Wenlock and John Wilkinson).  There was a great spirit of competition, and not only did the competitors do well, but the audience of Coleham fans were excellent in their support and appreciation of all.  Not only that, but COLEHAM WON THE TROPHY! A win for Coleham, and a win for MATHS.  Thank you to Miss Featherston for organising such an epic event!

We are looking forward to finding out the House winners of the Love Spoon Bakery Love Letter competition, and our runners up got to have a peek at the displays and talk to My Shrewsbury magazine!

Well done also to KS1 for making and selling Valentine’s Day cards and sweets today!  They have been busy making merchandise as part of their enterprise efforts.

I hope everyone has a restful half-term break, even if the weather is dreadful: take care and make the most of a rest.

See you on the Monday 23rd Feb!

Tom Larkham

✨ Coleham Hosts Primary Maths Challenge! ✨

What an incredible day at Coleham as we welcomed teams from St Martin’s, Much Wenlock, and John Wilkinson for our very first Year 6 Maths Challenge! 🔢🎉

Designed and led by Maths Lead Miss Featherston, the event brought excitement, teamwork, and some impressive problem‑solving. We were also treated to Mr Larkham’s best Carol Vorderman impression as he took charge of the whiteboard🤣🧮

The buzzer rounds brought tension as teams battled it out in quick‑fire maths challenges. ⏱️⚡ There was a great spirit of competition, and not only did the competitors do well, but the audience of Coleham fans were excellent in their support and appreciation of all.  Not only that, but COLEHAM WON THE TROPHY! A win for Coleham, and a win for MATHS.

A HUGE well done to all the pupils who took part. 🌟👏

Year 3 Judaism workshop 2026

Today, we had a Jewish visitor from Shropshire Interfaith Group.  This term, Year 3 is learning about the Judaism religion and it was a truly enriching experience to look at a number of authentic Jewish artefacts, listen to Hebrew words and learn all about practises within the Jewish community. This was a hands on way to link our learning to real world Judaism rituals and practices.

Burns Night @Music Club 🎶🦌

Music Club finished for half term with Burns Night celebrations and Scottish spirit!
Mrs Wade welcomed Stuart Altmann, the Belle Vue Bagpiper 🎵, who filled the playground with lively jigs that had children and parents dancing together 💃

Stuart then joined the children on tin whistle 🎶, accompanying their ukulele performances of “Loch Lomond” and “The Campbell’s Are Coming” with members of the Campbell family proudly watching in the audience! 🎉

Thank you to Mrs Barker for supporting.

Mrs Wade hopes to bring back the Pirate Ukulele Band 🏴‍☠️🎸 on Mondays after May half term!

International Speakers

We had so many interesting speakers from parents talking to us about their heritage but were wowed by our pupil speakers across school who presented to classes about cultures close to their heart.

Speaking in public, communicating with clarity and keeping an audience engaged is difficult to master but these children did a fantastic job!  A key employability skill for future careers!

Community Quiz Night

Another fun night for staff and parents! The categories round shook things up and draw the most miserable picture ended up with the most laughs!  The coveted loser mugs have found a home! Thanks to everyone for joining us.

SMAG Art Session

Thank you so much to Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery for hosting Year 5 for an Art portrait session.

EYFS discover Shrewsbury Through Sculpture

A Journey Across Time

Today, the EYFS children took to the streets of Shrewsbury with one mission in mind: to see how many sculptures they could uncover across our historic town and the town didn’t disappoint. The team spotted everything from medieval carvings on historic buildings to modern public art along the river and in the parks.

Year 5’s Hydro-powered rockets

A highlight of the year 5 calendar: this week we launched our water powered rockets with great success!

Year 4’s Electrifying Trip to Enginuity

We had a great trip to Enginuity, where we took part in a workshop about electronics to make a ‘jitterbug’ and a workshop about forces to make a ‘downhill buggy’, which we raced down a ramp.
