Headteacher Message

Dear Parents & Carers,

With only one more week to go before our Autumn Half-Term Break, we are very much into the thick of the school year!

This week started off with a lovely Harvest assembly, led by Holy Trinity’s Rev. Fi, where we learned about the importance of sharing: thank you to everyone who brought in donations for our Harvest Festival.  Mrs Rank took our School Councillors along to donate the food to the Barnabas Food Bank: it’s great to see children involved in community care like this.

Our Councillors also managed to pop out and see our lovely Network Rail volunteers who helped fix up the playground over the summer: THANK YOU!

We’ve also enjoyed welcoming our EYFS families this week for lunches at in the hall with the children – we love supporting families and welcoming you all into our community.

Next week we have two big trips: Year 4 to Chester and Year 5 to London – a super busy week for lots of people next week.

Don’t forget tonight’s quiz – there’s still time to come along later and join a team!

Have a lovely weekend, everyone!

Safeguarding Alert! Spy Dogs Books

We have been made aware that several titles in the Spy Dogs, Spy Pup, and Spy Cat series by Andrew Cope contain a weblink at the back of the book that no longer directs people to information about the books. Instead, the link has been compromised and now leads to inappropriate and unsafe material, containing pornographic content with no age restrictions.

We have removed any copies of the book from school.

Below are images of some of the front covers in the series to help you identify the books should you have any at home. We advise you remove them immediately.

Free First Aid course for parents

This is a great one to try over half term- submit a 500 word story to the BBC Competition.

EYFS Author Visit – Donna David

We were thrilled to welcome picture book author Donna David to share her fantastic Would You Rather…? series with us. 📚

Donna inspired our little learners to see how exciting books can be, and reminded us that stories aren’t just for reading – they’re for exploring, imagining, and enjoying together. 💡❤️

An opportunity for our youngest pupils to meet a real author and take a signed book home.

🌟 Celebrating Success – First Aid Club! 🌟

Our pupils in First Aid Club have enjoyed their sessions with Set 2 Save Training! 🙌 Gaining vital life-saving knowledge and hands-on skills, covering:
🦴 The skeleton and bones – and how to recognise fractures
🧠 The brain – understanding its importance and protection
⛑️ How to help someone who has fainted or become unconscious
❤️‍🩹 The basics of CPR – giving them the confidence to act in an emergency

We are so proud of their enthusiasm, teamwork, and dedication to learning skills that could one day save a life. 💙

School Council visit The Food Bank

🌾✨ Harvest Festival Celebration ✨🌾

We were delighted to welcome Rev Fi from Holy Trinity Church to lead our Harvest Festival assembly.  It was a time to reflect on gratitude, community, and the importance of sharing with others.  Thank you to everyone for your generous Harvest donations! 💛

Our School Council had the privilege of delivering the donations to The Shrewsbury Food Bank, helping to support families in our community.

🌟 A Visit of Thanks 🌟

Our School Council visited the amazing team of Network Rail employees to thank them for all their hard work over the holidays. They gave their time and skills to repair, build, and transform our school allotment – creating a space that will benefit us all for years to come. 🌱✨

We shared an important message with our children: when someone helps us, we should always take time to say thank you. Gratitude matters, and good deeds should never go unnoticed. 💛

Together, kindness and teamwork make our community stronger. 🌟

EYFS visit Holy Trinity Church

Our EYFS Foxes and Badgers enjoyed a special visit to Holy Trinity Church this week as part of their RE learning. 🕊️

They discovered the meaning of Baptism in this Christian tradition and learned how it celebrates new beginnings and belonging.

Hands-on experiences like these help bring learning to life and inspire curiosity and respect.  Thank you Rev Fi for showing us around your beautiful church. 🌟

EYFS Family Lunch

Thank you to all of Foxes and Badger families for coming along to our lunch. The children were so excited to share this experience with you!

Creativity with Author & Illustrator Huw Aaron!

We had an absolutely fantastic morning when Welsh cartoonist, author and illustrator Huw Aaron and Ed from Puffin Books joined our pupils for a live draw-along session and author Q&A! This was a truly special occasion as it was the first time we have welcomed a graphic novelist to our school.  Graphic novels are hugely popular with our older pupils who devour title after title!

We all drew along to discover the characters in Huw’s new books:

📘 Sleep Tight, Disgusting Blob – A hilarious bedtime story picture book
📗 Unfairies – A colourful graphic novel full of silliness, mischief and not-so-cute fairies

A huge thank you to Huw Aaron for inspiring our young readers, writers and artists. We hope this is just the beginning of many creative adventures! ✨📚🎨
