Headteacher Message

And just like that, 2024-25 is complete.

Thank you to everyone for all your support over this year.  On reflection, the year has been incredibly successful, not just in terms of published data, but in the growth that each and every child has made since September.  The tireless work of the staff, and the steadfast support from our families have shown own Community as the living, breathing force for change it can be.  I am eternally grateful for the contributions of everyone – pupils, staff, family or otherwise – that have made an impact this year.  Give yourselves all a pat on the back!

We say goodbye to our Year 6s: seven years of determination and perseverance from them and us, and they leave Coleham for the last time for new adventures.  Good luck to them, and good luck to everyone else leaving us this year for new adventures.

We end the year on a high, ready for a well-earned break, but also excited about what comes next…  New classes, new teachers, and new cohort of EYFS children and their families – so much to look forward to!

Thank you to all of you who have sent in lovely cards with lovely messages, including the lovely one above!

Stay safe over the summer and make the most of the time you can spend together.

Best wishes – here’s to 2025-26!

Year 5 test their waterproof longboats

For our final project of the year, we created Viking longships out of card. How are they so waterproof? Well, that’s a secret that only year 5 can find out next year!

Each ship was hand drawn, decorated, cut and glued by the year 5 children; no two are the same!
Here’s how it went:

Young Writer Nel

Nel editor of This year’s Coleham Express has a passion for writing.  Here she is at the Spark Young Writers’ summer celebration that happened this weekend at the Birmingham Conservatoire: a culmination of the group’s work over the last year and a launch of their anthology.  Well done Nel, as you move on from Coleham we look forward to seeing what your literary future holds.

Supporting Florence By tasting Ice-Cream

Year 1 and Year 2 cooled off this week by visiting Gelatistry to support Florence in Owls class. Florence was the KS1 winner in our House Ice-Cream competition and designed The Tiger who came to Coleham recipe, a flavour bursting orange sorbet with chocolate stripes.  Tom from rabbits class said it tasted just like ‘Jaffa Cakes’.  The children were excellent tasters and recommend you all try some!
