Headteacher Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to school, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful week with your families and are ready for an exciting final half-term ahead. The first week back has been filled with joy, laughter, and some fantastic activities that have set a positive tone for the remainder of the school year.

A special shoutout goes to our Year 6 children who had an incredible residential trip. A huge thank you to Mrs Morgan and Miss Featherston for organising such a brilliant few days.  We also want to extend our gratitude to Miss Dovey, Mrs Lord, Miss Nash, and Mrs Jeff for giving their time and ensuring the children had a great experience. The children were amazing throughout the trip and can be very proud of themselves.  I have never experienced such an enthusiastic residential trip with such a brilliant group of children.  Every single one of them pushed themselves further than they thought, and each child was so incredibly supportive, caring and mindful of their peers – not just with the daring parts, but the smaller, less obvious parts as well.  It was wonderful to see and they can be very proud of themselves.  Resilience, grit, determination and ambition was there for all to see.  Well done!

In other exciting news, we have had an ice cream competition this week! One lucky student from our school will have the chance to create their very own ice cream flavour to made into real gelato at Gelatistry this summer! The anticipation is building, and we can’t wait to see the delicious creations that come out of this fun competition.  I will be on the tasting team and will let you know…

Thank you to all our Year 1 families that came to share their experiences of the past with our children.  It’s so important for our families to be involved with our children’s learning.

Don’t forget: the Belle Vue Arts Festival is happening this weekend! There will be lots of activities and events for all the family in and around Coleham. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy some local culture and have fun with your loved ones.

Here’s to a fantastic term ahead filled with learning, growth, and plenty of smiles. Let’s make the most of every moment and support each other along the way. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Yours sincerely,

Tom Larkham

E-Safety Update: Roblox

We wanted to take a moment to highlight a recent update from Roblox—a popular platform among many young people—that introduces new parental control features designed to give families greater transparency, oversight, and control over children’s online activity.

New Features Now Available on Roblox

Roblox has launched several key tools that allow parents and carers to tailor their child’s digital experience more closely, including the ability to:

  • Block specific users from their child’s friend list, removing messaging and engagement with that person.
  • Block individual games or experiences, beyond general content maturity settings, for more precise content management.
  • Track the time spent on Roblox and gain insights into which experiences children are engaging with most.

To access these features, parents must link their own verified Roblox account—a safeguard ensuring only trusted individuals can adjust parental settings.

Updated Roblox Safety Centre

Roblox has also redesigned its Safety Centre as a one-stop hub for resources, guides, and reporting tools to help support safe and informed usage of the platform.

While no system is ever completely secure, these developments are a positive step. They reinforce the importance of combining technical tools with education, support, and most importantly, open conversation. Discussing online safety and gradually involving young people in these decisions can encourage greater digital responsibility and trust.

At Coleham, we continue to support students in becoming responsible digital citizens through the PSHE and computing curricula and encourage families to stay informed and engaged with their child’s online world.

Year One Family History Afternoon

This term, Year one have been learning about “living memory” in history and especially what it was like to be 6 years old in the past. Therefore, Squirrels and Hedgehogs were very excited to invite their relatives into school so they could interview them about their lives when they were six.  It was wonderful to see the generations sharing stories and showing artefacts they had brought in- bringing history to life!

Yr 6 Residential @ Pioneer

Year 6 had such a brilliant time at Pioneer Centre! Facing their fears, enjoying friendships and staying away from home.  A fantastic, memorable experience to celebrate their time at Coleham and all they have achieved.

Year 4 cook Tudor Pottage

As part of their DT cooking lessons, Year 4 have been busy researching all about food available during Tudor times, ready to improve an existing recipe. They peeled, chopped, sprinkled and poured all of the vegetables, herbs, spices and stock into a giant pot to cook, then evaluated the aroma, appearance, texture and most importantly – taste!

French Drama Club

Madame Jones French Drama Club were delighted to perform to Year 2 children this morning. What a treat!

Window Art for Belle Vue Arts Festival

Bobby and Aurora from Year 4 present ‘Wishing in the wind’. Lovely ‘movement’ themed window art for Belle Vue Arts Festival. Huge thanks to The Allotment in Coleham for providing such a beautiful space to decorate. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Be sure to make a wish as you pass the dandelion seeds blowing up the street! What will you wish for?

Indoor Athletics County Finals 🏃‍♀️🥉

This fantastic group of girls qualified for the School Games Indoor Athletics competition by coming first against schools in Shrewsbury! They then went on to proudly represent Shrewsbury in the County Finals, where they achieved an impressive third place overall.

What an incredible display of dedication, team effort, and passion. Well done, girls – a super performance all round! Keep up the amazing work! 💪🌟
