Headteacher Message
Dear Parents & Carers,
As we wrap up this week, I wanted to share some highlights and our excitement for the upcoming events.
Our Christmas Carol Singing was a delight! It was heartwarming to see so many families enjoying an evening of festive cheer and beautiful music. The children’s performance was fantastic, showcasing their hard work and dedication. A special thank you to Mrs Porrett and to our parent volunteers for making the concert so magical.
We also had our first Christmas Card House Competition, which was a great success. A big round of applause to Miss Featherston for organising this event. The creativity and effort put into each card was impressive, and judging was tricky. Congratulations goes to QUARRY for winning the overall competition! Your cards stood out for their originality and festive spirit. Well done to all participants for their wonderful entries. You all deserve a round of Santa-plause!
Looking ahead, I’m very excited to see the Nativity plays next week. These performances are always a highlight of the school year and a wonderful way to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. We encourage all families to come along and enjoy these special moments. The children have been working hard in rehearsals, and we are confident their performances will be memorable. Bring tissues!
Thank you for your continued support. Have a lovely weekend!

Our Picture Book Wish List
Our writing and reading leads Mrs Stennett and Miss Harris have been working with a consultant and plan to introduce Picture Book Studies next year. This will feature incredible books that help us become kind, empathetic, make us laugh, make us gasp and make us curious in the world in which we live.
We are on the look out for the following books and have set up an Amazon Wish List for these. If you might like to purchase a Christmas gift for our classes then we would be incredibly grateful for your donations.
Books can be purchased via the link below which will be delivered direct to school.

But don’t forget if you are kind enough to make a purchase, please leave us an Amazon note, so we know who the parcel is from! This way we can thank you and your children!

Could you or your children add to the Hive Community Art Exhibition? A great opportunity to see your work displayed.

Christmas Card Competition Winners!
As part of a competition for their houses, children at Coleham have been creating designs for Christmas cards.
We received a whopping 137 entries! There were so many fantastic designs from reception all the way to year 6 that 10 runners up have been chosen alongside the 4 winners. The 4 winning designs will be made into Christmas cards, which will be delivered to local businesses in our area.
Congratulations to all of our finalists!
After looking through all of the designs, Quarry house have been crowned the winners.

Year 6 Christingle Service at The Abbey
On Monday, year 6 made their own Christingles in school. Wendy, from Shrewsbury Abbey, kindly gave up her time to come in and explain the symbolism of the Christingle and also helped with the making of each one.
We later attended the Christingle service in The Abbey. It was a truly magical experience with children singing, saying prayers and finally lighting our Christingles. It was a serene moment for us to come together with feelings of hope and joy. Thank you Shrewsbury Abbey for lighting up our morning!
Thank you year 6 parents for your donations which will go to The Children’s Society.
Community Carol Singing
Thank you to everyone for coming along to our Community Carol Singing! Mrs Porrett and the Choir children confidently led us all in a mix of carols and songs. Singing really is great for the soul! Thank you to the Year 4 Mums for sorting the refreshments and jingle bells.
Christmas Mingle
The Christmas Mingle was fun! A cosy, candle lit evening filled with food and drink from local suppliers. A big thank you must go to Tom @ Paso-Primero wines, Darren @Gin-different in the Market Hall, Will from Shropshire Salumi and delicious pizza from Ready, Steady Dough. We’re feeling very festive now! Thanks everyone for joining us🎄
It was a new event for us. As ever, if you would like to plan any future events or have ideas for things you would like to see, please do let us know.
Christmas craft with the Prayer Group
Our Prayer Group families got together after school for a Christmas Craft session. To celebrate the start of advent the children made lovely table decorations with natural foliage and an advent candle. Thank you Mrs Wade for organising.
Kwick Cricket Engagement Event
A group of Year 3 and Year 4 children attended a cricket event at Shrewsbury Sports Village. They played fantastically, winning the group stage with three victories. In the quarter-final, it was a very close game, but they unfortunately lost by just 5 runs. It was wonderful to see such a great group encouraging each other and being first-class representatives of Coleham. Very well done to everyone who took part!
