Headteacher Message

Dear Parents & Carers,

Summer Term feels like it has properly started now and the weather has tried its very best to pretend to be summery!  Lots has been going on in school this week: you’ll be able to read about Techathon winners, an author visit, excellent work from the Eco Council and much more!

Next week is Science week and we’re looking forward to lots of fun science activities happening around school.  Good luck to everyone running the final leg of the Schools’ Half-Marathon tomorrow – I’m sure you’ll all do a brilliant job!  A huge thank you needs to go to Miss Lewis for organising and giving up her Saturday to volunteer at the event as well.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Tom Larkham

Headteacher

Next week is Science week!

We have some brilliant practical science demonstrations booked for next week!

The Planetarium and Walking with Dinosaurs workshop will be AMAZING!

If you can support us with these extra-special events, we would be grateful for a £3 contribution on Arbor School Shop.  Thank you!

Plant & Craft Fair Mtg

Our Plant & Craft Fair is coming up on soon and organising is well under way!

If any parents/family members would like to get more involved with this event then please come along to an evening meet up.

Where: The Coleham Tap Pub

When: Thursday 25th April

Time: 7:30pm

What’s it all about:  Just one friendly meet up to chat about the fair, what’s organised, stalls, activities, help needed etc.  Nothing formal! No on-going commitments! Everybody welcome!

Year 5 Techathon Champions 🏆

Two teams of year 5 children went to Shrewsbury High School to take part in a codebreaking challenge. They used their teamwork and resilience skills and came away with the 1st Place trophy… well done Year 5!

Community Litter Pick

The Eco Council joined forces with the Belle Vue & Coleham Community Action Group and Councillor Kate Halliday to clean up our streets! We love where we live and want to make a difference. Whilst we collected quite a lot of rubbish in our bags, we were really pleased to see that our surrounding streets were tidy and being looked after.  We’ll have to go further afield next time.  #colehamcommunity #colehamcares

We’re in the news!

Year 5 and 6 Boys Shine in Football Tournament

Congratulations to our year 5 and 6 boys for their outstanding performance in a recent football tournament. They played brilliantly as a team, scoring fantastic goals and defending exceptionally well. The year 5 boys secured first place, while the year 6 boys achieved second place, showcasing their dedication and representing Coleham with pride.

Tom Palmer Author visit

We had a fantastic visit for KS2 from Author Tom Palmer today. Tom is passionate about football, rugby and history and writes his children’s books about these. He told us that he struggled with reading at school and always doubted that he could ever become a writer but was inspired by someone close who believed in him.  He has now had 65 children’s books published!  Tom helped Elephants class plan a historical story based around a trench digging tool and then signed books in the school library.  We’ve had a brilliant afternoon chatting football and history!   Who knew that Mr Edwards has supported Chelsea since 1970!  Thanks so much Tom, there was a real buzz in the air today!

Gardening Club

Our Year 4 Gardening Club has got off to a great start!  Thank you to the Street Allotment Project for running this and educating us about growing and planting. The Street Allotment Project will be with us at our up and coming Plant & Craft Fair.  They will be happy to offer any gardening advice and tips so please have a chat with them!
