Religious Education inspires pupil’s curiosity and fascination about different religious and non-religious views and traditions across the world.
Religious Education provokes challenging questions about the meaning and purpose of life. It develops pupils’ knowledge and understanding about Christianity and some of the different religions in the world and allows children to embrace the diversity of our global community. Children are encouraged to explore questions within their own beliefs and develop a sensitivity to the beliefs and cultures of others, and respect the right to not believe. Together we reflect, discuss, share ideas and explore questions so children develop a deeper appreciation of the spiritual, moral and natural world around them.
Our Vision
Through R.E, our children will:
- make sense of a range of religious and non-religious beliefs,
- understand the impact and significance of religious and non-religious views,
- make connections between religious and non-religious beliefs, concepts and ideas studied,
- ask challenging questions about the meaning and purpose of life,
- explore questions about themselves as individuals and the wider community,
- embrace and respect the diversity of their peers and global community,
- appreciate the spiritual, moral and natural world around them.

We follow the Shropshire Agreed Syllabus for RE:
Shropshire Agreed Syllabus for RE
R.E. is taught weekly within classes at Coleham, with each year group completing 5-6 units per year.
Celebrating RE
We have local links with Holy Trinity Church and Shropshire Interfaith Group and focus our efforts on organising trips out to places of worship so children experience faiths they may not normally encounter in Shrewsbury. We celebrate a calendar of RE festivals as a whole school to give them priority and arrange visitors and workshops so we can enjoy exploring other faiths and cultures through stories, art, music, drama and dance.
