My partner and I came to visit and were given such a warm welcome by a lovely group of young girls on the steps of the entrance and one kind young lady offered to be our guide. Once we were inside the coach house a young man called Toby amazed us with his knowledge, making comparisons in photos and asking us to note the changes over the years, he really was quite amazing and held a small audience too with his happy outgoing approach to the role he had been given, at the same time another young man was having fun carefully dressing a child in period clothing. Well done Coleham School these children were a credit to you.

FRIDAY NIGHT DINNER
Last Friday was the inaugural Friday Night Dinner!
The idea is to offer kids the chance to learn some new skills, build a connection with food, learn about teamwork and most of all to build confidence in a ton of different ways!
The children prepped and cooked a menu before clearing down in a real life pre-service rush while also laying up the tables. They even chose some music to create the perfect ambiance. Although not my choice of ambience, it worked! The atmosphere was amazing!
They welcomed their families in, sitting them down and serving them some Pasta Pomodoro and Garlic Bread! The food all made from surplus food rescued by The Food Hub
After dinner they even cleared the tables (without being prompted) and served some pudding!
It’s always a little daunting heading into the first session of any project, let alone one where you’ve decided to trust a group you’ve never met to cook and serve for almost 40 people but they absolutely smashed it.
They all took some sauce to take home with them so they could recreate the dinner over the weekend!
We were blown away by their enthusiasm and I was gobsmacked by the love, care and attention they put into everything!
It was quite emotional to watch them all thrive and so proudly want to show their families what they achieved!
A huge thanks to Coleham School for all the work they put in to make the session happen and the amazing but mostly a huge thanks to the most amazing group of kids, who worked their socks off and produced the most wonderful experience for me, Ali, their teachers and their families!
Theres another one in the pipeline and I can’t think of a better way to spend a Friday afternoon so I for one, can’t wait!

The children were extremely well behaved and polite on their visit last Friday. They genuinely tried hard to interact with old old folk: they sang (in some cases most enthusiastically!), they tried the crafts, and they shared their reading books. We felt it went really well, and that the older people enjoyed their visit!
Thanks to you for facilitating it, and to the children and staff for entering into the spirit of the afternoon.

A really close liaison exists between Coleham School, we work well together and whenever possible we liaise with the school’s Business Manager to make the area and our community a better place to live, work and play.
Some of the projects we have worked on together include tree planting and a celebration for the closure of Coleham Butchers and Grenville’s retirement. It was a great success and Granville’s family were very appreciative of the children’s comments. We have also assisted with the School Road Closure, I am pleased to be able to report that it was a great success and the road closure operation brought us closer together to the pupils and staff of the school. This was a pioneering road safety project which has now been duplicated in other areas.

We were thrilled to be welcomed by Coleham Primary for their Science Week activities for 2023. All students engaged and showed enthusiasm in the hands-on session we provided, and it was very encouraging to see the students’ eagerness to learn and participate. Students expressed confidence in asking complex questions, demonstrating a wealth of curiosity, and it is clear that Coleham provide a positive learning environment in which an enquiring mind can flourish. Miss Harris’ communication has been excellent, and it is inspiring to see her eagerness in securing a varied and complete provision for science within the school.

Coleham Primary School plays a major part in our annual community
festival. With children at the heart of our festive fortnight, the participation of the school’s children and staff is key to its success, and every year they delight us with their enthusiasm and creativity for all our events.
We are proud to be associated with the school and look forward every year to the fresh ideas they bring.

Coleham school have provided tremendous support in setting up our school at Bowbrook. I have been fortunate enough to observe the systems and culture that make it outstanding and we have attempted to replicate this into our new school.
Now we are open, the Senior Leaders continue to provide support, challenge and expertise to drive standards in all areas at Bowbrook to ensure our children have a wonderful, well rounded education that is preparing them for a successful future. I feel privileged to have spent time in this learning environment – I could not have asked for better professional development.

“I came on Saturday as a stall (twinkles) and honestly couldn’t not email to comment on just how wonderful the staff, children and school itself is.
I have never met such polite and grateful children. All of the children who visited my stall were impeccably well mannered and I can’t sing their praises enough. Even the ones who didn’t buy from me were so lovely and chatted to comment on my items.
The whole atmosphere of the school is something I can’t even explain, you can see the relationships between the children and teachers are so warm and genuine, and all of the staff just seemed so happy to be there and have so much time for all of the kids.
I don’t think I’ve ever been anywhere in which I’ve been made to feel so welcome and the whole school should be so proud of how well they come across. It’s easy to see why Coleham is such a sought after school. You’re all doing a fantastic job, which I’m sure you already know but who doesn’t love positive feedback anyway !”

We would like to thank you and all the staff involved for inviting us to the Townsend Art Gallery. It was a wonderful experience exceeding all our expectations. We were pleased to witness everybody’s enthusiasm for and delight in the project. There is no doubt that Judy would be absolutely thrilled to be honoured in this way. We were most impressed when we saw how professionally the idea had been brought to fruition. It’s excellent that you now have a dedicated area in school where the artwork done by the children can be displayed in such an attractive and well-designed setting, giving the work the respect and celebration that it deserves. Thanks to everyone, especially those delightful children involved , for such a lovely and memorable occasion. We can never thank you enough, Judy was amazing and you all are too.
The Townsend Family – September 2023
Thank you all very much for inviting me to the launch of the new Townsend Gallery today.
What a wonderful, welcoming space, thoughtfully curated with a really inspiring array of work. I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.
Thank you once again and congratulations. You must all be so proud!

It’s such a clever use of space, so beautifully designed and so refreshing to see. It was lovely to see this special space officially open today. Congratulations to the school staff and its fabulous pupils

Coleham primary school is actively involved in what is important in our community, whether it is supporting businesses who have flooded, getting involved in improving biodiversity in the local park, or getting involved in local events such as the Belle Vue Arts Festival. They have successfully initiated the first ‘school street’ in Shropshire, with Greyfriars Road being closed in to traffic at pick up and drop off times, making it a safer environment for children and families. The school has an excellent ‘council’ system and having talked to at a careers event I was very impressed with the children’s knowledge of and interest in local democracy across the age range. Coleham Primary School is very much at the heart of our community!
Kate Halliday, Councillor for Belle Vue September 2023
I was so happy to be asked to visit Coleham Primary School to talk to the children about my career. It’s so refreshing to see a school inspiring kids so early, I certainly never had careers advice when I was at primary school. It’s also great to see such a variety of careers being introduced to the children to inspire them to think big and to let them know anything is possible if they work hard. The children were so engaged, asked so many questions and the school was so warm and welcoming. Coleham is a really vibrant, modern school and it was an absolute pleasure to visit.

The EYFS in Coleham has excellent practise. The children have been in school for just over a month, it is incredible how secure, confident, and happy they are. Everyone, teachers, TA’s, apprentices, all have the same expectations.
The inside has a calm feeling, the colours are muted, there is plenty of space. The resources are organised, clearly labelled and accessible. It looks beautiful.
Thank you for inviting me to come in and observe your excellent practice, it was a joy.
I shall be suggesting to other EYFS teachers to come and see your practice and environment.
Alison Rae, School Improvement Commissioner Early Years Foundation Stage, Shropshire Council November 2022
Your presentation was brilliant, it covered all the important aspects of EYFS and you delivered it in a calm and clear manner. It was really well received.
