Volunteer Programme
We’re proud of our Coleham School Volunteer Programme. We want to help people gain an insight into school life and provide a pathway to working in education. We are passionate about developing people and providing classroom experience, mentoring and support to help you.
This programme is ideal for adults undertaking a relevant course or qualification in their own time or indeed anyone seeking a change of career who enjoys spending time with children. It might be that you are at the other end of the job market and already have experience and lots to offer and are looking for a friendly environment to volunteer in or help children read. We will act as mentors and allocate you a class to be part of so you feel part of the Coleham Team.
We appreciate volunteers time and want to give back and invest in your personal development whether that might be practical experience, providing you with free training/qualifications or recruitment advice/support for applications and interviews. Therefore, we require a level of commitment from Volunteers for at least half a day per week for an ongoing length of time. This ensures quality and consistency for our children. Our programme is very successful with lots of our volunteers going on to secure employment at Coleham as Teaching Assistants or other educational settings.
We have had lots of success stories, meet Liz below who started volunteering and has progressed as a TA, HLTA and is now Squirrels Class Teacher after completing her PGCE at Coleham.
