Yr 3 Museum Trip

Year 3 visited the Shrewsbury Museum for a hands on Stone Age Workshop.  They saw the woolly mammoth exhibit, explored artefacts and experienced life in the stone age.

Safety Afternoons

This week saw all children take part in safety afternoons learning about fire safety, water safety, road safety etc Here are our youngest pupils taking to the streets for some practical road safety lessons.

Hula Hooping Fun

This week was our School Games week where we used our PE slots to learn childhood games to make playtimes more fun!  As part of this we invited Britain’s Got Talent star The Hoop Guy to teach KS2 children hula hooping and hoop skills!  John aged 69 proved that its never too late to take up a new hobby and that anyone can learn to hoop!

September Social

The September Social was a huge success and we loved hanging out with you all and catching up after the summer.  Thank you for your support and to all the musicians, volunteers and four legged friends who took part.   From lighting fires at Forest School, to stroking an armadillo, practising circus skills, performing at Colehams Got Talent, testing your strength at tug of War, dog handling, we just loved seeing lots of happy faces and memories made.

Beat the Street

We announced to children today that we came third place in the School’s Leader board! We enjoyed scanning our cards and clocking up points in the beat boxes around Shrewsbury.  Beat the Street is a free active, national outdoor game encouraging walking and cycling.

History Timeline

Our pupils were wowed by the new history timeline gracing the school corridors when they returned to school.  This links to our history topics and the inspirational people we learn about across school and even features the women Lionesses winning the euros!

Outdoor Learning

Year 5 began their outdoor learning this week combining Maths and History!  Pupils had to construct a giant 40 metre timeline using place value and their history knowledge.

 

 

Staff Fundraising

Staff raise money for The Ukraine by purchasing Scamp & Dude clothes that were donated for the cause.  Don’t they all look fab?  Thank you Scamp & Dude!

Outdoor Tudor Pottage

Year 4 combine their history/design & technology and forest school skills by cooking Tudor Pottage on an open fire on the school field.  Tudor Pottage is a type of vegetable stew or porridge made up of ingredients on hand.  Mr Venn looked on as Mr Russell dug up the school field to create a cooking pit!

Yr 3 & 4 Sports Day

Year 3 & 4 sports day was a great success for all the children, with the quoit throwing relay, running and team water challenge.  Well done to all the pupils for showing great team spirit in cheering for their houses and to Darwin who won 1st place overall.

Musical Showcase Concert

Well done to all the children who learn and play instruments in school.  Together with their music teachers they put on a wonderful concert showcasing a variety of different instruments to parents.  We LOVE music and performing at Coleham.  Thank you to Mrs Porritt for leading the concert and all the brilliant musical happenings in school.

Coleham School Pet

How exciting, Coleham School has its very own pet!  Mrs Stennett and Rabbits Class enjoyed looking after the baby chicks in springtime so much they decided to get their own pet to live in Rabbits Classroom.  Meet Albus the Bearded Dragon (named after Albus Dumbledoor who also has a beard)  Mrs Stennett is a huge Harry Potter fan!  Albus has already been touring the school and popped into singing assembly today to meet everyone.

 

EYFS Forest School Trip

Badgers and Foxes Class are visiting Inside Out for their summer trip, an Outdoor Learning environment led by Franky Giani.  The children had a wonderful time toasting marshmallows, climbing, swinging, sliding, digging, and using their imagination to engage in lots of play and learning.

Yr 5 & 6 Sports Day

It was so lovely to see families at our Yr 5/6 Sports day.  A huge thank you to Mr Venn for organising the event, the team water challenge was a favourite!  Well done to all the pupils for participating and Darwin for winning 1st place, closely followed by Severn.

Yr 5 Gargoyles

Yr 5 loved having their Art lesson at The Priory Secondary School this week and sculpted some amazing gargoyles!

Weather Balloon Launch

Early this morning Mr Larkham and Mrs Nash and the Science Club were busy preparing an exciting science project.

A special helium filled weather balloon with a payload of equipment was launched from the school field.

Where will it travel? Where will it land? What data will it capture? Will we ever see it again?

Scarecrow installation

The Art Club and Mrs Smith have produced these fantastic scarecrows ready for Sunday’s Open Gardens and BVAF Scarecrow trail.  The theme is journeys hence the bicycles!

Art Exhibition

Classes visit the Belle Vue Art Festival’s exhibition at The Barnabas Centre featuring some ‘journey’ inspired honey bees from Year 5. An outstanding collection from local artists and a great gallery to be part of.

Bees for the BVAF

Check out this gorgeous artwork created by Artist Sue Mann using Year 5’s individual artwork.  All of the children’s bees are proudly displayed  in local shops for this year’s ‘journey’ inspired festival of Art for the Belle Vue Arts Festival

Life skills at Crucial Crew

Year 6 went to ‘Crucial Crew’ where life skills delivered by delivered by professionals ranging from the Police, Fire and Rescue,  Health Authority, RNLI – and specialists representing rail, road and water safety, the environment, farming, dog safety, health and safety, personal hygiene, IT skills and dangers on building sites.

Town Walls Tennis Club

Thank you to Town Walls Tennis Club who hosted Whales and Dolphins and taught them some tennis skills.
