Headteacher Message

Wow – what a week!

It has been absolutely amazing to see all the Nativity performances this week.  It’s such a wonderful privilege to see all the children in this amazing school showcase their talents to you all over the course of the week, and to see their smiles as they perform.  The singing has been OUT OF THIS WORLD and has lifted everyone’s spirits ready for Christmas.  A huge, huge thank you goes out to all the staff who have contributed to getting the shows put together.  A special thanks to our wonderful Mrs Porrett who just oozes enthusiasm for all things musical.  Mrs Porrett even took our ‘Coleham Voices’ choir to a gig at Hickory’s this week – we are very lucky!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the parent survey over the past two weeks.  We will compile all the information and be in touch in the New Year about the outcomes.

Next week is the final week of term for 2023, and we have a lot of fun in store, including the whole-school trip to the pantomime, our Values Cups in each year group, and the all-important House Cup winners!

Have a super weekend, everyone!

Surprise Christmas Parade

Our Christmas Parade will take place in the school grounds at 2:00pm.  We will be pulling out all the stops for this to create magical memories for us all.  The children won’t know why they are outside or what they are waiting for as they are positioned around the grounds waiting for a cast of special characters.

Parents/Carers are invited to watch at the pavement railings.

Please keep this a secret from your children, we won’t be talking about this in school so mums the word!

We would be really grateful if you are able to support us and donate £2.50 per child via Arbor towards the costs.

The Flu Clinic will also be taking place on this day.

Miss Armstrong and the Year 5/6 Drama Club are performing Macbeth to their families in the school hall. The performance starts at 1.45pm.

The Coleham Voices are singing at St Alkmunds Church at 6:00pm.

Today is our last day in school as we break up for Christmas and we wish you all a happy and healthy holiday with your loved ones.

EYFS & KS1 Nativity

EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 put on a beautiful nativity performance for us all this week. Performing three shows is impressive at any age so well done to our youngest children!  It left us feeling all Christmassy and very proud of you.  A massive thank you to Holy Trinity for their hospitality and letting us perform in their beautiful church. It is such a special place to perform.

KS2 Christmas Performance

Wow!! A breath taking show from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 for their Christmas Performance.  It is really important to us that the whole school has the opportunity to perform at Christmas time and with 420 pupils that means 7 shows in one week! Well done to all the children for doing their very best in rehearsals and in each and every show.  Singers, dancers, actors, narrators soloists and musicians, you all played a very special part and we are so proud.  It really is magical to hear the children’s voices in such a beautiful church and this wouldn’t be possible without Mrs Porret’s expert musical direction and leading music at Coleham! We are so lucky to have such a fantastic Music Teacher!

Yr 3 Christmas Cheer

The children in Year 3 have been supporting the children in Ukraine. They have collected reading books and made personal Christmas Cards to a number of children who have lost loved family members through the war.  These items are all being sent over to the Ukraine on Friday.  Well done Year 3 for your kindness to others.

Banksy Exhibition

Our new exhibition in The Townsend Gallery features stencil work created by our Year 6 children, which is based on the work of graffiti artist Banksy.  Keep your eyes peeled and you may even spot some of the children’s graffiti art dotted around the playground, too!

Coleham Voices @ Hickorys

Coleham Voices were invited to perform for Christmas diners at Hickory’s Smokehouse Restaurant. The children sang beautifully and it was a great experience for them to sing to a new audience.   It was a lovely festive evening and we were joined by lots of parents.  Thank you to Mrs P for always going the extra mile and bringing lots of musical magic to Coleham ✨️✨️

Merry Christmas Moneypenny

Some Year 6 Artists designed a special Christmas Card for Wrexham business Moneypenny to thank them for hosting Elephants Class at their impressive headquarters for a Careers trip.  The girls nailed the graphics which are personalised to Moneypenny.  Well done girls #kindness & gratitude

Festive Beats Workshop

Ukulele Club enjoyed their annual Festive Beats Workshop on Monday when Andy Lowe visited with his beatbox, mic and musical tech.

Mrs Wade who organised the visit said:  “The children had great fun composing a hip hop Christmas mash-up with seasonal SFX and Andy recorded them performing two Advent songs on their ukuleles, chime bars and Indian bells”. Well done Ukulele Club!
