Coleham Primary School is an inclusive school which offers a broad, balanced and creative curriculum which aims to encourage all children to achieve their full potential, including children with SEND. The following policies give an outline as to how we support children with SEND within our school.
Mary Morgan is our current SENCO. She can be contacted via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by ringing the school directly on 01743 362668.
When children with SEN difficulties join our school, appropriate support is put in place for them to succeed. If a child has a statement or an EHCP and Coleham School is named on this, then they will be given priority when requesting a place at our school. If they have been identified as being SEN support in their previous setting, then their application will follow admission procedures as stated in our admissions policy.
If they are transferring from a nursery/preschool setting, transition meetings are set up between the preschool provider and the reception teachers at our school to encourage a smooth handover.
If they are transferring from another primary school, we will seek to find out information regarding attainment and how best to support the child from their previous school setting. We actively encourage parents to speak to the child’s class teacher or SENCO to discuss any concerns which may arise during transition from one setting to another.
If your child has a disability or an additional need, you may be eligible to participate in the 'All In' activities. Please follow the link to their brochure.
To confirm your child/young person is eligible to access the ‘All In’ opportunities you are required to complete a registration form which details the nature of your child/young person’s disability or additional needs as well as describing the barriers they have, or would face in accessing mainstream services.
