As you may remember, we recently spent a lot of money on new books for the school. Over the past year the number of books in our book corners has dwindled due to books not being returned by a number of children. We also understand that there will be a bit of natural wear and tear but we would ask you to look after the books that have been sent home and keep them in book bags when they are not being used.
Some parents have asked if their children can read books from home. This is fine as long as children still read their banded book from school and reading diary entries show this. School books cover a wide range of writing genres, however we cannot cater for all personal tastes as we do not have the space so older children may choose a book of their own, as long as the content is appropriate for their age. If you are not sure whether a book is suitable, have a chat to your child's class teacher.
Watch out for an exciting new development in Coleham's reading provision which we will be writing to you about in the near future.
