I hope you had a lovely Christmas break and a Happy New Year to you all. We were pleased to welcome the children back to school on Wednesday.
I am writing to share some exciting news for 2018, regarding school meals.
We have considered the feedback from the Parent Questionnaires regarding school dinners and have been reviewing this closely over the last two terms.
Dinnertime is such an important part of the school day and it is very important to us that the meal and the dinner time experience which we offer to the children, is as good as it can be. A decision has been made to appoint a new catering contractor from April 1st 2018. Governors, Staff and the School Council are all involved in this selection process and we are currently following up references by seeing the lunch service in a number of other schools.
We hope to enhance our existing provision by creating “a restaurant experience” in our dining hall so that our children are better equipped to choose what they would like to eat. We would also like to achieve greater curriculum links (to healthy eating and cookery workshops) and greater engagement with parents so you can work with your child to choose their food (via newsletters, website, food tasting at parent events) It is important to us that the school, parents, kitchen staff and contractor work closely together to ensure a whole school approach to catering.
Please note that meals will continue to be healthy and within food regulations and the meal price of £2.20 will not be increased.
We look forward to updating you once the new contractor has been selected.
