If you are on a joint family income of less than £16,190 and are in receipt of any of the following benefits you may be eligible for benefits-based Free School Meals (“FSM”):
In addition to providing free school dinners for each eligible child, this scheme will award your child’s school a payment (known as “Pupil Premium”) of £1,320 per annum at the current rate, to spend on your child’s educational needs. Examples of how Pupil Premium funding can be used include:
Even if you prefer your child to bring in their own packed lunches, we would encourage all those entitled to receive Free School Meals to claim this benefit so that the school receives as much Pupil Premium funding as possible to support eligible children in their learning.
To apply for benefits-based Free School Meals please click on the following link https://www.shropshire.gov.uk/free-school-meals/apply-for-free-school-meals/ which will take you to Shropshire Council’s website, where you can complete an on-line form. Alternatively, you can complete a Pupil Premium Registration Form, copies of which are in the carousel at the main school entrance, ensuring that all relevant sections are completed, and return it to the School Office. We will forward your application on to Shropshire Council’s Free School Meals Unit who will determine whether or not you are eligible.
In order to ensure we receive Pupil Premium funding in the next financial year (i.e. from April 2018), eligibility for your child needs to have been confirmed before 18th January 2018. As such, if you are applying for Free School Meals via the hard copy form you will need to submit it by Monday 8th January 2018 in order to allow time for processing.
