International Day - Tuesday 7th November

This year at Coleham School, we would like to hold an International Day on Tuesday 7th November.  This will be a day during which we can celebrate international cultures and diversity within our school community. We would like to ask the pupils to dress up in the colours of a flag from any country around the world. Alternatively, some children might like to wear traditional dress relating to a particular culture which they have links with.

If possible, we would like parents/guardians of children to prepare some international food for the children to sample on the day. It would make it very exciting for the children to have a tasting session during their allotted class slot in the afternoon. If you are able to contribute a cultural dish for our International Taster Kitchen, simply bring it along on the day and hand it to your child’s class teacher. Could we also please ask a few things of you to ensure the safety of every child and to make the tasting a logistically smooth process:

  • No nuts or nut derivatives (e.g. nut oil) to be used in any dish
  • No sesame seeds or derivatives (e.g. sesame oil) to be used in any dish
  • ALL ingredients to be written on a label so we can cater for children with allergies
  • Label the food with your child’s NAME and CLASS so that we can aim to make sure that your child gets to taste their own dish
  • FINGER FOOD ONLY – cut into portions
  • Please note, food will be left at room temperature until it is tasted in the afternoon.

In addition, there will be an International lunchtime menu to carry the theme through the day and a whole school International assembly in the morning led by Madame Jones, our French teacher. We hope you all agree, that it will be a fun and enriching experience for all!
